Sikkim intends to strengthen veterinary hospitals in Pakyong; Expand citizen-centric services

The government of Sikkim plans to strengthen the veterinary hospitals in Pakyong, to ensure that domestic animals receive timely care for a variety of illnesses and diseases.

Based on this, the Secretary of Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (AH&VS) – Dr. P. Senthil Kumar visited Pakyong Veterinary Hospital to assess the status and requirements of the district animal husbandry office and from the veterinary hospital.

Pakyong Hospital receives various pets, small ruminants and other animals for the treatment of various diseases and ailments both in the hospital and in the field.

The group considered several items for improving the infrastructure, equipment and service delivery at the hospital clinic.

He insisted on the completion of the veterinary hospital building, which is not yet complete due to the death of the contractor.

The secretary instructed doctors to report cases to the department and to estimate future needs for the hospital to move to the new location so plans can be made properly.

At the same time, the issue of lack of infrastructure and manpower was examined in order to identify solutions in the near future, given the increase in the state’s veterinary health care activities.

The Secretary of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services commended the team of veterinarians, para-vets and staff at Pakyong Hospital and encouraged them to perform better, assuring them of his full support to further improve the ‘institution.
