WILLIAMSBURG – Heritage protection society (HHS) has several events and promotions now running through September.
From adoption promotions to a day of dog swimming, the animal shelter engages with the community in a variety of ways.
The Plinko Adoption Promotion is HHS ‘latest promotion for Clear the Shelters.
The facility is under construction for the renovation project, leaving areas of the refuge that would normally be available for pets now closed. With over 200 pets in its kennels currently, HHS is asking the community to help clean the shelters.
Anyone who adopts a pet by September 19 can play HHS ‘new Plinko board.
Each adoption fee will be reduced with 15% off, 25% off, 50% off, or one free adoption.
In a press release, HHS Executive Director Kimberly Laska said there are currently 62 dogs in their care, up from 22 dogs last year and 32 dogs in 2019 at this time of year.
Prospective adopters must make an appointment in advance and can do so by visiting in line and selecting three dogs they would like to meet or plan to adopt and call (757) 221-0150 ext. 0 or e-mail [email protected]
Drooling in the pool

The annual event welcomes all water loving dogs for a day of splashing and saving lives.
Dog pool passes will be available at the door. The event will feature music, refreshments and other goodies.
It’s $ 10 / donation per dog, and all proceeds from the event go to the Homeless Animals of the Heritage Humane Society.
The event is if time permits.
