31 Severely Neglected Dogs in Southern Illinois

Going through Facebook can be fun but sometimes it also shows the ugliest side of humanity. One such example is when local rescues take in abused or neglected animals and need to ask the community for help in caring for the animals.

When I was looking for a rescue dog, I scoured Petfinder to find the exact dog I wanted. I even set my travel setting up to two hours just to widen the net. I’m so thankful I did this because the perfect little mix of brooches was waiting for me at a family rescue in the small town of Newton, IL.

31 Severely Neglected Dogs in Southern Illinois

Since then, I have followed the work that Saved by Grace Animal Rescue made on Facebook. They take dogs and cats from animal control and place them in foster homes and forever.

Yesterday I saw that they were helping with the seizure of 31 severely neglected dogs in Jasper Co, IL.

The posted rescue this to facebook:

“We were called to Jasper County this week for an emergency situation involving an unlicensed puppy mill. Upon arrival, a deceased dog was discovered along with 15 other dogs in horrific condition. participated in their removal from the residence and in our rescue.”

“Because we couldn’t handle the magnitude of this situation for so many reasons, our friends at WILD Canine Rescue were kind enough to come and help us. We ask for prayers and donations to help these dogs get back to good health. .”

In one subsequent Facebook postthey gave this update on dogs:

All 31 dogs are fine (16 more were found on Monday). They are cared for, checked and placed in foster homes as quickly as possible. 4 are still hospitalized. 1 tested positive for heartworms. This situation involving minors, information is limited. Rest assured, there are no more dogs on the property.

Please do not contact emergency services at this time.

With most of these dogs being highly sought after doodles and purebred dogs, the response has been overwhelming. The rescue then let people know that the dogs are NOT available at the moment and asked people not to contact them to ask about particular dogs as looking after all the animals takes time and that takes time to take care of them. .

Fair enough – but how can I help?

But if you’re like me, you WANT to help. The best thing you can do is donate for care. These doggos are in poor condition and will all need veterinary care. This very small private rescue also needs funds for food, medicine and other necessities to help care for these dogs.
There are several ways to donate. You can donate online via PayPal Where Facebook. Or send a check to:
